The challenge

A news portal that wants to display the results on its own pages has to consume the files published by Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE), which are numerous, complex and change with every bulletin, and build its own solution to turn them into maps, scoreboards and tables. For most newsrooms, this means building, in a few weeks, infrastructure that is only used a few days every two years and that cannot go down on exactly those days. SEVN did this work once, for every outlet that hired our tool.

The solution

We created SEVN Elections 2026, a SEVN product that fetches the official results from the TSE, processes them and delivers them to media outlets in four formats:

  • Ready-made components: 25 blocks to paste into a page (maps, rankings, head-to-heads, the vote count curve, results by municipality and by party). The outlet sets its identifier and the component fetches the data and updates itself throughout the count.
  • CDN API: the results as static JSON files at predictable addresses (year, round, office and region are in the path itself). There are no keys to manage, and the CDN absorbs the traffic peak.
  • TypeScript SDK: types and autocomplete for every results object, with a local cache and request deduplication, for teams that prefer to build their own screens.
  • Oráculo Eleições: an AI chat the outlet embeds in its page. Readers ask in Portuguese or English how the count is going and get an answer with numbers, a chart and sources. It only answers with data published by the TSE, never forecasts or opinions.

The package also includes a CDN with photos of every candidate and complete documentation for the clients' development teams.

Besides serving media outlets, we used the product ourselves to launch our own results website, apuracao.sevnelections.com, covering president and governors, a municipality-level map, the count over time and a comparison between rounds, in Portuguese and English.

The result

The platform served media outlets throughout both election days, October 4 and 25, 2026, with no downtime. Adding up all the infrastructure SEVN built:

670M+

Updates delivered over both rounds

36k/s

Peak updates

~40 s

From the TSE to the reader

1.3 TB

Data delivered

0.00%

Server error rate

In the first round, the platform delivered more than 549 million updates, and more than 124 million in the runoff, peaking at 36,300 per second with no failures on our side: only 555 of more than 670 million requests ended in a server error. Most responses came straight from the CDN cache. Data reached readers about 40 seconds after the TSE generated it, and almost all of that time is spent waiting for the TSE itself: once a file arrives, processing and publishing take about 1.5 seconds.
